The WATS Mobile App for Android and iOS requires the user to login with their own user. Then the app will create a Mobile App rest API token and use that to get data from WATS.
- The user requires the Mobile Application permission to authenticate with the app.
- The Mobile App token has the MobileApp role, which has all the necessary WATS
permissions to use all the features of the app. The user themselves do not need
to have these permissions, only the permission to access the app. - The Mobile App token can be seen in the Tokens view in the Control Panel and can
be configured like other tokens, for example be restricted to a level or be revoked. The name is MobileApp#YourDeviceIdentifier. - The Mobile App token is valid for 2 months. This is renewed when the user opens
the app. After 2 months of inactivity, the user must reauthenticate to continue to
use the app.
Important for On-prem:
You must have access to your WATS server in order to use the app with an on-premise installation.
On premise installations are often secured behind firewalls or accessible from internal networks only. You may also need a VPN connection. Please contact your local IT department if you are having trouble reaching the WATS server.
Tip: You may check your connectivity with the WATS server by navigating to the server address from your web browser on your mobile.
How to login
First enter the name of your WATS account
Standard: Enter the name of your WATS server, the URL you use in the web browser.
Example: mywats.wats.com
On-prem: Enter the full address of your WATS server, including 'http://' or 'https://'
Example: http://mycompany/wats
The app will then display available login options for your WATS, which may be username and password with your WATS user, SSO with Microsoft Entra, or SSO with another provider, if configured.
SSO sign in will redirect to the provider and log in to app once it returns.
Login with WATS user requires username and password, and may also require a Two-Factor code or TOTP from your authenticator app.
