The Process List is one of the core elements in WATS.
It defines the list of processes applicable to your organization. Each process can be classified as a Test, Repair, or WIP (Work In Progress) operation.
Process Types
Test Operations
Test operations represent processes that can be selected in applications such as TestStand at startup. These define the test flow and are associated with report uploads and yield tracking.
Repair Operations
Repair operations are used to tag UUR (Unit Under Repair) reports. They also define unique sets or lists of repair codes used when creating Repair Reports.
WIP (Work In Progress) Operations
WIP operations can represent intermediate or non-final production steps, allowing better tracking of product progress through the manufacturing process.
The Process List is automatically distributed to all connected clients and servers to ensure consistent configuration across the WATS environment.
Editing the Process List
To edit or configure processes:
- Navigate to Control Panel → Process and Production → Processes.
- Use the grid to create, update, or delete process entries as needed.
Note: Refer to the in-app Help file (accessible via the Help icon (?) in the upper right corner of your WATS application) for detailed field descriptions and configuration guidance.
Processes and Yield Calculations
Accurate process definition is essential for correct yield calculations (e.g., First Pass Yield).
WATS relies on process differentiation to correctly interpret test results and calculate process-specific yield metrics.
For example:
If test results from “Process 1” and “Process 2” are incorrectly labeled under the same process (e.g., ICT), the calculated First Pass Yield will be inaccurate.
To ensure valid data, always assign unique process names to distinguish between different testing or production stages.
For more information, refer to the Statistics and Calculations (accessible via the Help icon (?) in the upper right corner of your WATS application) for detailed examples.

It seems that the pictures are from an older version of SkyWATS.
I'm also unable to delete a process in the current version, or have I missed how to do it?...
Hi, yes, print screens will be updated periodically as the WATS GUI changes.
You cannot delete a process, only change the name or set them inactive. I hope this was clarifying.
What is best practice when defining processes? One per teststand sequence or one for many teststand sequences?
Hi James,
You should make one for many TestStand sequences. In general, try to keep the number of processes limited, as you can filter Part Numbers, sequence files etc "within" each process.
The list of processes should be your "overall" process steps above stations, sequences, operators, etc.
