Access tokens can be created and managed in Control Panel → Alvea & connectivity → Connectivity → Tokens.
Tokens provide a secure way to grant access to WATS without sharing user credentials. They are used for integration with the WATS Public API, temporary consultant access, or client registration.
Token Management Options
Create a New token
To create a new token, click + New Token at the top left of the Tokens page.
This opens the Token Creation dialog, where you can define the token’s configuration.
The Token Definition settings determine the token’s availability, including level, product group restrictions, and expiration date (UTC).
Keep in mind that the following fields cannot be modified after the token is created:
Name
Web client
Restrict to level
Restrict to product group
Role
Please note that role is only available for on-prem customers.
When a token is created and saved, a pop-up appears displaying the token value.
Make sure to copy and store the token securely, as it will not be shown again.
Edit
To edit an existing token, either double-click the desired token in the grid or click the Edit button located at the beginning of the row. This opens the Token Edit dialog, where you can modify the token description and expiration date (UTC).
Delete
Deletes the selected token. Any requests made using the deleted token will no longer be accepted.
To delete a token, select it in the grid and either click Delete at the top of the page or press the Delete key on your keyboard.
Regenerate
Generates a new token key value. Any requests made using the previous token key value will no longer be accepted.
Use this option if the token value has been forgotten, compromised, or if you want to reuse an existing token (for example, a consultant access token).
New "register client"
Used for remote installations of WATS clients where you should not distribute your username and password.
Selecting Register Client creates a token that can only be used to register new clients into WATS.
This token type is typically used to grant access for creating new clients in a production environment.
Permission
Permissions for updating Tokens settings are managed under: Control Panel > Roles and permissions.
