The WATS Package Manager allow you to periodically download software packages from the WATS Server based on tags and install them on the computer depending on the install option.

WATS Client 7.X
The WATS Package Manager is installed with the WATS Client, but you can optionally select Active/Inactive during installation. The Package Manager has to be active to automatically download packages.
Configure
To configure the Package Manager, right click the WATS system tray icon and choose "Configure" and select the Software Distribution sub-menu.
NOTE: Starting from WATS Server version 2026.2, you can edit all Package Manager settings from the web app System Manager.
- Active - Enable to run the Package Manager as a background process.
- Prefetch packages - Allow the Package Manager to download packages as a background process to a temporary folder.
- Delete revoked packages - Automatically delete revoked packages.
- Package status - Select what package status to check (default Released).
- Check interval - How often the Package Manager will check for available packages at the server.
- Package install options - Select how packages will be installed by default, whether to install packages automatically or prompt the operator.
Install options
| None | The package will not trigger any automatic installation behavior. (manually open the Package Manager to install packages) |
| Bring to front (pop-up) | The Package Manager application will pop up and become visible when the package is available to install. |
| At computer start-up | The package will automatically install when the computer starts. |
| When ready | The package will automatically install as soon as it is ready, based on the Package check interval. |
- Package tag filter - Edit to make more advanced tag search options. By default, the Package Manager will match the ComputerName tag ona Package.
Install
If the install option is None or Bring to front, users may install packages from the Package Manager GUI.
WATS Client 6.X
The WATS Package Manager is an option from the installer setup.
After installed, right click the WATS system tray icon and choose "Open Package Manager". From the File menu, choose configure/edit to modify the settings (search tags).
